Pre-lien Notice

Pre-lien Notice

General contractors must file, along with the memorandum of lien, a certification of mailing of a copy of the memorandum of lien on the owner of the property at the owner's last known address.

For residential projects where a mechanic lien agent is identified in the building permit, claimants must provide preliminary notice to the mechanic lien agent within 30 days of first providing labor or materials, or within 30 days after the building permit is issued if labor or materials are provided prior to the issuance of the building permit.
